OT: Cross Stitch Books for Sale
Question:
Hi Ruby, I didn’t write the FAQ or the charter. I don’t try to interpret them either but they clearly say ‘no ads’ and even spell out that announcements about things for sale on auction sites or rctm are considered ads. I don’t email or post against every ad on here. In fact I rarely post at all. I usually just send a polite email and usually receive a polite apology back (most times saying they didn’t realize it was against the rules). But I’ve seen more and more ads appearing lately and if someone doesn’t point out in public that it’s against the rules then everyone will think it’s ok to do. — Jeri

These are frequently posted here inviting RCTNs’ to view new charts added for sale on these web sites. Is any invitation to visit a web site, which is that persons way of advertising their web site to RCTN’s, considered an ad??? If not why not?? I did not post a list of sale items, just "inviting" interested RCTN’s to view my posts on rec.crafts.textiles.marketplace; as did the poster that the above post is directed at. I was just thinking the same thing – did I miss the winter? <G Deborah Pesa – New York City http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/Haven/1646 If a dog will not come to you after he has looked you in the face, you ought to go home and examine your conscience. – Woodrow Wilson

First I would like to say thank you to the persons who responded to my post. I appreciated the note telling me I was wrong but then again I must confer with Ruby in that what exactly is an ad and I would also like to state that I did in fact post it as off topic and I did not list the items nor their prices. I simply passed on some information. I would classify this along the lines of people who are way off topic with such items as poems about Glow-worms, items about their pets and please pray for my whomever. Sorry if I offended anyone, it was never my intention but if this is to truly be a needlework newsgroup shouldn’t one stick to needlework topics. Just my two cents. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi Ruby, I didn’t write the FAQ or the charter. I have posted a list of hardcover, new, never used Cross Stitch books in rec.crafts.marketplace. If you are interested please check them out. Thank you.

posted and emailed In case you didn’t realize…..posting ads on rec.crafts.textiles.needlework is against the FAQ and charter. The excerpt below is from ‘Newcomers to RCTN-Please Read’ which is posted twice a week by Kathy Dyer. ~ Where can I post advertisements? RCTN is not the right place. There is a newsgroup just for ads. It is called rec.crafts.textiles.marketplace. It is reached the same way as RCTN. Posts that say, "See the items I’ve posted for sale in the marketplace group or a Web auction site," are considered to be ads. HTH, Jeri
