New York Needlework Stores

Question:

I found another store in Brooklyn!<<

I found another shop yesterday too.  In Kingston, NY while I was up there for a job interview (cross your fingers please, I have THREE schools interviewing me now and have had call backs on 2!!), The Needleworks at 292 Wall St. which is downtown by the courthouse.  Take the NY State Thruway to the Kingston exit, enter the traffic circle and take 2nd left to Washington Ave.  Go up past the first two lights and I think there was a 3rd light (go left AFTER the 2nd light intersection) and you come into the "downtown" and have to manuveur around some one way street and do use the public parking lot, street spaces are at a premium!  Small store with xstitch and yarn both.  DMC flower thread is 20cents now as she is phasing it out!  It is all in a big basket! Small selection of patterns but she has linens, DMC floss, Paternaya yarn phasing over to the DMC version, and somepretty things framed including a few MLI’s.          Sue                         /                       /              (  (     /  )       (  (   (     A    )    ( ( ( (  ( (       0    ( (   (  (       _         (   (     (      /  ___ /

I found another store in Brooklyn!  It’s a quilting store called Sew Brooklyn on Seventh Avenue in Park Slope.  I went in last night wondering if they’d have any needlework supplies besides quilting and they do.  Now, they’re not a cross stitch store, but they do have:  DMC floss; beads; YLI silk ribbon; and a couple of embroidery books.  They also give classes and one of them is silk ribbon embroidery.  There are also knitting, dollmaking, and lots of quilting classes. The store is right near the 7th Avenue stop on the F train (subway). I’ll be going there for last minute needs mostly, since there are less expensive floss places, but it’s certainly handy to have something close (and open, they’re open till 7 most nights and open Sundays too!). And the fabrics are beautiful. Sew Brooklyn 228 7 Avenue Brooklyn NY  11215 (718) 499-7383 M-F 10-7 Sat 10-6 Sun 12-5
